About the Host

As multifaceted as Oakland itself, Taj Tashombe is an award-winning executive, artist, designer and philanthropist. The Oakland native is Founder and CEO of Canyon Oaks an agency which is a diverse collection of brand houses with an emphasis on the arts, production, experiences and advisory services. He is also Founder and Creative Director of House of Tashombe, which is a luxury clothing brand featuring ready-to-wear, bespoke suiting and evening-wear for men and women.

An avid musician, Tashombe is also gearing up for the release of his debut album and the release of new music later this year. His self-described musical genre is entitled “R&V” (Rhythm & Vibe). Tashombe is passionate about the Oakland community which inspired his partnership between Visit Oakland and Canyon Oaks to executive produce, direct and host 'See Things From Our Side' that will educate a wide array of viewers on the beauty and cultural relevance of our city.

Located on the east side of the Northern California Bay Area, Oakland is bordered by 19 miles of coastline to the west and rolling hills to the east. It is conveniently located near three major airports and can be easily accessed via railway, bus or ferry. Measuring 78.5 square miles, Oakland is the eighth largest city in California.
