Visit Oakland launches giveaway to experience all that The Town has to offer!

Oakland, CA - Visit Oakland hosted a gathering for The Town’s community to celebrate that Oakland is voted One of the Top Best Cities in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler readers. More than 70 people from the Oakland community joined Mayor Barbara Lee and Peter Gamez, President & CEO of Visit Oakland. The crowd included small business owners, chefs, hotel workers, representatives from the Oakland Roots and Soul, the Oakland Ballers, as well as chamber and city leaders.

The gathering took place on the Peace Terrace at the Oakland Museum of California, and the moment was captured in a commemorative photo. The location was chosen as a symbol of the peace and unity within the Oakland community. The sculpture is a reminder that peace is not a passive state but an active stance – and that stance continues to be well represented throughout Oakland.

“In Oakland, we proudly celebrate our cultural history, diversity and inclusivity” commented Peter Gamez, President & CEO of Visit Oakland. “These commitments are just a few of the reasons the Condé Nast Traveler award was given to The Town. As the only city in California to make the list, this is a tremendous honor for Oakland, and we are thrilled to share this recognition with the world.”

To continue the celebration, Visit Oakland has announced a sweepstakes presenting three opportunities to win getaways to the beautiful city of Oakland. With an ideal location – winners of the Oakland Ultimate Experiences will travel to The Town by plane, train, or automobile. It’s easy to enter – participants simply complete the official online form at visitoakland.com and follow Visit Oakland on Instagram @visitoakland. Entries are being accepted Thursday, November 6, 2025 through Monday, December 1, 2025. Winners will be announced via social media on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
