The Fourth Wall is a contemporary art gallery located in Oakland, California. It was founded in 2016 by artist Susan Aulik. The gallery’s mission is to support and promote artists, foster experimentation and risk-taking, and contribute to the growth of a strong local art community.

The Fourth Wall Gallery takes its name from the theater where there is an imaginary fourth wall that allows the viewer to suspend their disbelief and join with the actors in the drama they are presenting. The founder wants to bring that same experience, of being able to step into the world of the artist, to our gallery. Founder and director, Susan Aulik, has been involved in art her entire life - as a painter, a collector, entrepreneur and volunteer. Opening The Fourth Wall is a dream come true and a culmination of her talents, background and experience.
