Boating programs are offered at Lake Merritt and the Oakland Estuary. Youth and community programs provide an entry point to gain skills to explore the wonders of Bay Area boating. Join the Green revolution—learn sailing and muscle-powered boating!

For pedalboat, canoe, rowboat, and kayak rentals, no certification is required. To sail on Lake Merritt, you will need to provide sailing certifications, pass a sailing test, or take a class with us.

Boat Rentals require a CASH ONLY deposit of $20-$30 plus the first hour's cash rental fee. Click here for full rental rates.

BOAT RENTAL HOURS

Summer (July – August 11): Monday – Sunday from 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Winter (November – February): Saturday – Sunday from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Spring (March - June): Monday – Sunday from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Fall (August 12 - October): Monday – Sunday from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

* Time indicates when the last rental leaves the dock. Sailboats rented to experienced sailors only & must be rented 1/2 hour before the last rental time and returned to the dock 1/2 hour before closing. Customers are expected to rig, de-rig, and fold sails.
