EXQUISITE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCES THAT INSPIRE COMPASSION
Previously Ubuntu Theater Project
Ubuntu is a Zulu proverb that means 'I am because we are' and 'I am a person through other people. My humanity is tied to yours.'Oakland Theater Project is a collection of artists that are committed to creating compelling works that unearth the human condition and unite diverse audiences through revelatory, heart-pounding theater. Founded in Oakland, California, in 2012, Oakland (Ubuntu) Theater Project shared three annual summer theater festivals and produced 14 plays in five Bay Area cities during that time. Oakland Theater Project is now proud to offer year-long theater for Oakland and the Bay Area through our mainstage seasons.
