BANDALOOP honors nature, community, and the human spirit through perspective-bending dance.
An innovator in vertical performance, BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography and climbing technology to turn the dance floor on its side. Founded by Amelia Rudolph and under the artistic direction of Melecio Estrella, BANDALOOP re-imagines dance, activates public spaces, and inspires wonder and imagination in audiences around the world. The company trains dancers and youth at home and on tour and has performed for millions of people in over 22 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia, and on screens in films and digital media.
BANDALOOP is based in Oakland, CA, where the company incubates and produces work for its local audiences and for touring performances presented around the globe. Education and outreach are an intrinsic part of the company’s mission. In addition to its ongoing work with youth, BANDALOOP offers regular classes, camps, and intensives at its home studio and in the mountains, and team building programs for executives and leaders of organizations. Group Activities & Experiences
BANDALOOP’s Education program serves movers of all ages, genders, body types and bloodlines, helping people re-imagine what dance can be. While our harness-based dance form requires the use of technical climbing equipment, adaptations are available for those with specific access needs. BANDALOOP offers decades of experience in site-specific, off the ground dance making - skillfully mixing the logistical, technical, and transcendent aspects of vertical dance. All our workshops and classes begin with BANDALOOP’s Culture of Safety as a foundation and ascend from there.
We encourage play with an expanded palette of expression, rigorous physical training, skillful collaboration, reflection, and lots of fun. Our professional and pre-professional level trainings develop sensitivity and boldness in vertical performers. Our youth programs give young artists opportunities to be confident, courageous, collaborative, and physically intelligent. BANDALOOP workshops are designed to engender an embodied sense of connectivity - within oneself, with a partner, and in groups and communities. Join us for an evening class, private lesson, community Free to Fly event, or a weekend workshop and experience the delight of vertical joy!BANDALOOP STUDIOS & MEETING ROOMS FOR RENT
