Celebrate Black cowboy history and culture at the Oakland Black Cowboy Association’s 52nd Annual Parade & Festival on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at DeFremery Park in West Oakland. Established in 1974, this beloved Oakland tradition honors the legacy and contributions of Black cowboys while bringing the community together under the theme, “Preserving Our Heritage, Inspiring Our Future.”
The parade begins at 10:00 AM, followed by a daylong festival from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM featuring live entertainment, line dancing, youth activities, pony rides, food, local vendors, community resources and more. Head to DeFremery Park, 1651 Adeline Street, Oakland, CA, for this family-friendly celebration of Black culture, Western heritage and Oakland community.

Founded in 1976, the Oakland Black Cowboy Association was created to bring the hidden stories of Black cowboys and cowgirls into the spotlight. These pioneers were more than riders; they were heroes of the frontier. Today, we continue their legacy by celebrating their contributions and sharing their stories with the world.
