Oaktoberfest in the Dimond

October 2020 Virtual Activities

Oaktober2020 will connect fans and the community to traditional, seasonal foods and some of the best Bay Area Craft beers, only this year from safe social distances. Unique entertainment and a month of special features will help ensure our mom and pop business owners, our cultural artist and entertainers, are feeling the love and patronage from the public.

Highlights and New Features:

  • Breweries Spotlight  Promotion of 43 different breweries and of limited release beers social media.
  • Dimond Restaurant Spotlight Promotion of local restaurants and eateries, highlighting the diverse cuisine of the Dimond community and the specials exclusive to Oaktober 2020.
  • October 17th Program
    • One time only, German inspired menu items - Grand Lake Kitchen,  La Farine Bakery cook up Grab the sauerkraut for some Pork Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Bread Dumplings, Braised Red Cabbage, and of course fresh baked strudel
    • BEERS! - Seasonal and Summer - mixed packs from the best brewers in the Bay. Showcasing German styles for Altamont, Drake’s, Laughing Monk, Federation, along with limited release Fall favorites from HenHouse, Ale Industries, Eight Bridges, South City Cider, and more!
    • The Dirndl Diaspora World Premiere Play (5PM) Tune in for this entirely new and uniquely Oakland animated comedy by Oakland author & playwright Kristen Caven, featuring 13 women actors in celebration of diversity and heritage through textiles and fashion. Stories of love and horror, cuckoo clocks and baby clocks, plus lots of funny German words. (rated PG)
    • Community Conversation - Dirndl Diaspora (7PM) Join the cast talk-back and facilitated community conversation on Zoom about the overlapping cultural value, following the Dirndl Diaspora Premiere
    • Meet the Brewer & Comedy Show “Hops and Hahas” (8PM)  Performances by Justin Lockwood, Annick Adelle, and more while showcasing the underground of the Bay’s beer scene.
  • Fashion Show & Dirndl Contest (October 18th 3:00 PM) Participate in our virtual “Fashion Show” by posting photos of yourself in your lederhosen and dirndls on the Oaktoberfest Facebook page, and enter the Dirndl Contest to win prizes!
