​Barry Manilow, born Barry Alan Pincus on June 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American singer, songwriter, and producer whose career spans over six decades. He rose to fame in the 1970s with a string of hit songs, including "Mandy," "Copacabana (At the Copa)," "I Write the Songs," and "Can't Smile Without You." Manilow has released numerous albums, with 13 achieving platinum status and six multi-platinum. He has recorded 51 Top 40 singles on the Adult Contemporary Chart, including 13 that hit number one. ​

Before his solo success, Manilow worked as a commercial jingle writer and performer, creating memorable tunes for companies like McDonald's and Band-Aid. He also collaborated with Bette Midler as her pianist and musical director in the early 1970s. ​

In addition to his pop career, Manilow has ventured into musical theater. He co-wrote the musical "Harmony" with Bruce Sussman, which tells the story of the Comedian Harmonists, a 1920s German vocal group. After several attempts, "Harmony" finally premiered on Broadway in November 2023. ​

Manilow's contributions to music have earned him numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award and an Emmy. He continues to perform and record, maintaining a dedicated fan base worldwide.​
