Tamearra Dyson, chef and owner of Souley Vegan (and its four locations!) is such an inspiration for how she continues to build her brand and business (she started as a stand at the Grand Lake Farmers Market), and she even beat Bobby Flay on the Food Network, the first vegan to do so in 28 seasons!
Even without that exciting win, regulars line up for her made-from-scratch, Louisiana Creole-style vegan food. The extensive menu kicks off with the Deez Ain’t Gator Bites, with her housemade version of diced Louisiana hot links (so good!) and mushrooms battered in a Creole spiced mix, and the popular F.L.O.C (FOR LOVERS OF CALAMARI), which are actually hearts of palm. Take a trip to NOLA with the okra gumbo and jambalaya (with housemade seitan), and the burgers are definitely of note here. The Pray 4 Me features two housemade patties (so savory, with great texture and crunch) with cheeze, coleslaw, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and our special pray-4-me sauce served with crispy, seasoned fries—it’s an excellent burger.
There’s a full bar, fun vibes, and Sunday brunch. Get ready for her new business coming soon next door, The Back Porch.
