More Industrial Arts in Oakland

Crucible : In 2003 The Crucible opened it’s new facility in West Oakland on 7th street and quickly became the nations top industrial arts facility. The 56,000 sq ft space provides various industrial arts classes including glassblowing and jewelry making to all age groups. Home to masterful makers and curious newcomers the crucible is the perfect place for anyone wanting to learn about industrial arts in Oakland.

Form & Reform: Jon Sarriugarte has been involved in the Burning Man and La Machine for a long time. He also runs Form & Reform which is a blacksmithing company which specializes in furniture and custom lighting. Jon's biggest claim to fame is probably his art projects highlighted by the Golden Mean and the Serpent Twins

NIMBY : NIMBY refers to themselves as Oakland’s DIY space and we couldn’t agree more. The massive East Oakland location is home to 80 art groups, makers, and craftsmen many of whom create the inspiring pieces seen in the Burning Man Festivals. NIMBY is a one-stop shop for innovative, artistic endeavors that’ll boggle your mind.

m0xy: Located in the heart of Jingletown, m0xy is home to incubators and innovators of all kinds. The studio offers space for visual artists and makers, as well as an incubator and artist guild mentorship program. They merge the benefits of modern maker spaces with old world artisan mentorship through education. Tours are available by request through their Facebook Messenger.
