The ever-growing, hot, trendy, Oakland food scene took a huge leap in 2014. The Town saw a number of new bars and restaurants open much to the delight of the entire country and its collective palate. So in no particular order because we love them all equally in their own special ways here are our favorites from the last year.

3407 Lakeshore Ave

We've written about it before but it bears mentioning again because, delicious. The Mediterranean-inspired menu will have you asking your server for one of everything.

98 Broadway

They make the list for a number of reasons, not just because were neighbors. The bocce, the bowling, the games, the beer garden, the water front view, and chicken wings. Need we say more?

The Dock @ Linden Street

95 Linden St

The man, the myth, the legend James Shyabout struck gold again in Oakland with The Dock. Self described as a cultural melting pot of food, spirited cocktails and beers. We couldnt have said it better ourselves.

Diving Dog Brewery

1802 Telegraph Ave

Uptown is fast becoming one of the Bay Areas best neighborhoods. The addition of a DIY beer-brewing bar isnt hurting. Dont worry it isnt required to brew your own beer; theyve got 30 taps and a variety of bottles to choose from.

Homeroom To Go

4007 Webster St

While Homeroom itself isnt new - theyve been serving up the best mac and cheese for years now they did give us a to go option so we dont have to fight anyone for a table. They really are doing the Lords work.

Jack's Oyster Bar & Fish House

336 Water St.

We swear we arent just putting our Jack London Square brethren on here. Go there, get a lobster roll then youll see what we are talking about.

The Half Orange

3340 E 12th St

Great beer, great burgers, nuff said. One more thing on Mondays all draft beers are $2.98, and we arent talking Bud Light. Image via
