Established by a congressional resolution in 1983, this week of events serves to champion the power of our industry. Travel and tourism professionals from across the nation work throughout the week to promote the impactful contributions their travel markets and organizations make to the U.S. economy.
The travel community marks the event in a number of creative ways, from staging local rallies and conducting media outreach to securing proclamations and resolutions from local governments.
This year’s theme shines a spotlight on the power of travel by recognizing the millions of people who keep this industry strong: the Faces of Travel.
This industry supports the livelihoods of more than 15 million Americans, whose careers have blossomed. And it is one place where the right things matter most—reliability, hustle and attitude. These are the people who help others connect because hospitality runs in their DNA, fueling the travel industry's continued success. These are the jobs and the people we should be celebrating.
During the week of May 7 - 13 Visit Oakland would like to recognize some of the Faces of Travel right here in Oakland. We are calling on our partners to nominate a member of their team who goes above and beyond to enhance the visitor experience here in Oakland. Up to 25 individuals will be selected to be honored across our social media platforms during the week, as well as receive a Thank You gift basket from the Visit Oakland staff. Nominees do not have to be limited to front desk hotel staff, we are looking for anyone and everyone that is involved in the visitor experience: Retail Clerks, Game Day Staff, Bell Man at hotels, Restaurant/Winery/Brewery staff, Attractions staff, local artists and musicians. Oakland's tourism industry is so diverse, we want to make sure we properly salute all those involved.
To nominate someone from your team, fill out the following form, and submit a picture of the nominee to firstname.lastname@example.org. Only nominations with pictures attached will be considered.
