I Am Oakland is a destination training program for everyone who works directly with guests and visitors on a daily basis.
Whether it’s a taxi driver, a bellman at a hotel or a restaurant server, guests always ask these frontline workers for the “inside scoop” about a destination. With the I Am Oakland program, Visit Oakland will provide hospitality staff with the tools to deliver an exceptional experience.
With Over 12,000 employees in tourism supported jobs in Oakland, Visit Oakland has designed a course specific to the destination. This three hour program consists of a guided driving tour around Oakland’s neighborhoods and attractions, followed by a classroom session facilitated by a trained I Am Oakland leader. Oakland’s brand will be discussed, and participants will discover their role in the tourism industry and why delivering an optimal customer experience is vital to the city’s economic success.
Great experiences bring back more customers, which in turn create more jobs, more hours and career advancement for hospitality employees.
