Sun Moon Studio is an intimate, farmer and producer-driven restaurant located in West Oakland, California. Established by chefs Alan Hsu and Sarah Cooper, the restaurant offers a multi-course tasting menu that showcases the bounty of local producers and farmers through the lens of their life experiences.

Location and Ambiance

Situated at 1940 Union St. Ste. 21, Oakland, CA 94607, Sun Moon Studio features an intimate dining room with only four tables, providing a personalized and cozy dining experience. The restaurant's minimalist design allows guests to focus on the culinary artistry presented in each course.

Culinary Experience

The tasting menu, priced at $150 per person, consists of approximately 12 courses that highlight seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Dishes have included items such as black cod over egg custard, a duck crepinette, and chrysanthemum panna cotta. An optional beverage pairing is available for an additional $90 per person.

The chefs are happy to adjust the menu to accommodate dietary restrictions with advanced notice.

Reservations

Reservations are released six weeks (42 days) in advance at midnight via OpenTable. Due to the limited seating, it is advisable to book well in advance. For private parties or events, inquiries can be directed to events@sunmoonstudio.com.

Getting There

The restaurant is located on 21st Street, to the left of the roll-up gate in a navy blue building, across from EBMUD facilities. Street parking is available, but guests are advised to keep their cars empty of any belongings. Utilizing ride-sharing services is also encouraged.
