Join us as we stroll Oakland Chinatown, perusing the sights, sounds and tastes of an area of deeply rooted local historical and cultural influence. We will walk a 6-block radius, exploring local venues, businesses and tasty food items only found in the unique Chinatown neighborhood.
The tour starts at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center and we'll visit some of the most popular eateries and landmarks in the Chinatown neighborhood - one of the oldest Chinatowns in the United States. Oakland Chinatown was settled in the 1850s, shortly after the gold rush.
In 1906, the San Francisco earthquake and fire wrecked San Francisco Chinatown, causing thousands of San Francisco Chinese survivors to move to Oakland to rebuild their lives in the East Bay.
What's included when you book a spot on the tour:
- Food and drink (Try traditional dishes at up to 3 locations)
- Insights from local Chinatown businesses, merchants and community members
- 2-hour walking tour with time to eat, shop and relax
- A culturally-competent tour Guide sharing cultural and historical gems
- Fun conversation with other Bay Area locals and visitors
Groups of 10+ people are preferred but individual travelers are always welcome. Please contact Acacia WoodsChan at acacia@ethnicties.org to book your tour or if you have any questions.Back To Top
