The African American Museum and Library at Oakland is dedicated to the discovery, preservation, interpretation, and sharing of historical and cultural experiences of African Americans in California and the West for present and future generations.
The reference library supports the archives and museum. Materials may only be used in the library.
SELF-GUIDED TOURS
You can drop into AAMLO at any time during open hours for a self-guided tour. See the current exhibition, browse the shelves, borrow seeds from the seed library, and meet staff. You do not need a reservation.
GROUP TOURS & EXPERIENCES
To request a guided, or group, tour with AAMLO staff, please make a reservation in advance. A separate request for each visit is required. Please contact us at aamlo@oaklandlibrary.org or (510) 637-2000 to schedule a group tour or for more information.
Due to the high volume of requests, please allow at least one week for processing tour requests.
