How to Explore Oakland Neighborhoods During Oakland Cocktail Week 2019
It’s all good in the neighborhoods of Oakland as the second annual Oakland Cocktail Week is back September 20-29, 2019. This year’s theme “All Good In the Neighborhoods” celebrates Oakland’s spirits community by exploring the Town’s unique districts. Like last year, over 50 bars and restaurants across Oakland and Alameda will offer special cocktails inspired by Oakland for the week. There’s an eclectic line up of themed ticketed events benefiting the Oakland Indie Alliance. Get your tickets on the Oakland Cocktail Week website.
Here are a few ways to get exploring:
You can’t deny that bartenders know what’s all good in the neighborhood. Three beloved local bartenders walk you through neighborhood tours of Downtown Oakland, Uptown Oakland, and Oakland’s own neighbor Alameda. Get light bites and sip on cocktails while you explore what makes these parts of the Town and Alameda unique. A portion of ticket sales benefit the Oakland Indie Alliance.
- Tues, Sep 24 - Downtown Oakland with Christ Aivaliotis of The Kon Tiki
- Wed, Sep 25 - Uptown Oakland with Alex Maynard of Starline Social Club
- Thurs, Sep 26 - Alameda with Susan Eggett of Oakland Cocktail Week & Last Rites
3. Battle of the Mai Tais at the Town Throwdown Cocktail Competition
Get on down to Lake Merritt for a good old cocktail competition at the Town Throwdown 2019. 12 local bartenders face off on a rooftop lounge overlooking the lake to see who can claim to make the best version of Oakland’s own Mai Tai with inspiration from Oakland’s neighborhoods. Tickets include samples of 12 cocktails, light bites prepared by Oakland chefs, and a donation to the Oakland Indie Alliance. Hosted by 106.1 KMEL’s DC and music provided by DJ Hector. Sponsored by Moet Hennessy.
Refresh your senses during a special Oakland Cocktail Week edition of SHOWGA™ at Oakland bar Starline Social Club. SHOWGA™ brings you an energizing interactive concert with live music featuring members of the Oakland band Whiskerman, yoga, aromatherapy, and lights. After the concert, enjoy a boozy brunch paired with cocktails mixed with the delicious classic Italian liquor Amaro Montenegro crafted by Starline’s bartenders. A portion of proceeds benefits the Oakland Indie Alliance.

Nothing better than cocktails and live jam sessions.
