World's Biggest Eye Contact Experiment

World's Biggest Eye Contact Experiment

About

On World Peace Day, let's share a minute of eye contact with strangers in public to rebuild our sense of shared humanity in Oakland! This is part of 'The World’s Biggest Eye Contact Experiment 2019’, originally conceived and promoted by 'The Liberators’, and in 2019 continued by Buddha Theatre. It's being held in cities all over the world and your participation will help build a global vibration of peace and human connection on the 21st of September 2019.

The idea is simple

  1. We will have clear signs that say “Where has the human connection gone? Share 1 minute of eye contact to find out…”
  2. We will sit down on a cushion facing another cushion and invite another person to come and share a moment of eye contact with us.
  3. Allow yourself to be seen & calmly gaze into the eyes of the person in front of you. When you create a safe environment of acceptance and love, the other will feel connected.
  4. On the Day: Bring your cushions, rugs, or other comfort items for sitting on the ground. Show up for the opening circle, then participate in the event for up to 2 hours.

Where to meet?
We will meet on Saturday the 21st of September at 12pm at The Lake Merritt Pergola, 599 El Embarcadero, Oakland, CA

What to Bring?
Please come with a picnic rug or yoga mat and 2 cushions to be comfortable.

Optional Extras?
Instead of cushions you can bring 2 folding chairs, this makes it easier for the elderly to sit. Instead of cushions you can bring 2 Hula Hoops, this is great for standing eye contact.
