The Salvation Army Gala - A Night for Others

The Salvation Army Gala - A Night for Others

About

The Way Out Gala raises critically needed funds for The Salvation Army of Alameda County’s family services and homeless initiatives, supporting children and families with programs that provide safety, stability, and opportunity. Because every child deserves a childhood, these services help individuals break free from addiction, abuse, and poverty — restoring hope and creating real pathways forward.

This year, we are proud to honor Gary Payton Sr. — Oakland native, Hall of Fame athlete, and lifelong community advocate. Known to the world as “The Glove,” Payton’s legacy of leadership, resilience, and service mirrors the heart of our mission — showing what’s possible when talent meets tenacity and success is shared forward.

Hosted at the newly renovated Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts, an iconic Oakland landmark where legends once played, this year’s gala, with live entertainment, an elegant dinner, and a dynamic chat between Gary Payton and Tim Roye (the Voice of the Warriors), brings us together on historic hardwood for a higher purpose.
