About

Tenor, Soprano, and EWI saxophonist Ayo Brame was born and raised in Oakland, California. Ayo began his formal jazz studies at the Oakland School for the Arts.  Initially a clarinetist, drummer, and bass player, Ayo discovered his passion for the saxophone during the pandemic, studying under the esteemed Richard Howell at Oaktown Jazz Workshops, further refining his skills at the Oakland Public Conservatory of Music, and later as part of the SF Jazz High School All Stars.

Ayo has dedicated countless hours to perfecting his craft, performing alongside his mentor, Kev Choce.  Ayo is currently a freshman studying jazz at The New School of Music in Manhattan, New York.

His young career has already seen him headline back-to-back sold-out shows at Yoshi’s for two consecutive years. His musical journey has taken him on tour throughout the continental United States, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Cuba. Looking ahead, Ayo is slated to perform in Cuba at the International Jazz Festival, Spain, Morocco, and Portugal, to name a few, in 2026.

Please join Oakland’s own Ayo Brame and friends for two thrilling nights of music in celebration of his 19th birthday on Saturday and Sunday, April 25–26. These shows promise to sell out again—secure your tickets now and be part of an unforgettable celebration of a remarkable young talent.
