Queer Soup Night

Queer Soup Night

Queer Soup Night is a queer party with soup at its center! Come early for the soup, stay late for the love! Founded 2017 in Brooklyn by Liz Alpern, each event raises money for a community org, highlights the talent of queer chefs, and nourishes our community by gathering in an atmosphere of authentic inclusiveness.

April's Queer Soup Night is benefiting the The LGBT Asylum Project - Center for Immigrant Protection.
This non-profit organization is exclusively dedicated to providing high quality legal representation for LGBT immigrants who are fleeing persecution and seeking asylum in the United States.
The LGBT Asylum Project works closely with partnering organizations and have an established referral system to ensure that clients receive the most suitable and appropriate services based on each case. Their clients originate from all over the world, including countries such as Uganda, Nigeria, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Vietnam, China, Jordan, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and Saudi Arabia, which are known for extreme and violent persecution of LGBT communities.

The LGBT Asylum Project provides support to immigrants in the San Francisco Asylum Office jurisdiction (from Bakersfield, CA to Seattle, WA), identify as LGBTQ, and have been persecuted or have fears of future persecution if they return to their home country.

Tickets: Purchase at the event with Cash/Card. Donation based $10-$20 recommended, no-one turned away due to lack of funds.
Dietary Restrictions: We will have vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options!
The event is BYO! We'll provide the soup, you provide the drinks! All attendees 21+ are welcome to bring a bottle of wine or beers to share. All ages are welcome.
Directions - Coming from SF or Oakland? Take the Warm Springs Fremont line to Fruitvale BART. Red Bay is less than two blocks from the station.
Driving: There is plenty of parking in the neighborhood - as its a Sunday we can also legally park in the BART Lot!
Accessibility: There is a ramp to enter Red Bay coffee and no steps once you’re inside. There will be a DJ playing music and the talking/noise level ends up being pretty elevated. There are tables at regular height and bar height to sit and stand at. Please reach out if you have any specific concerns.

QSN Mission:
Our mission is to strengthen local queer communities across the country through sharing space, sharing food and contributing to something bigger than ourselves. We believe that we are strongest when we are joyful and generous, together.
