About
OAKLAND, CA – The Oakland Gay Men’s Chorus (OaklandGMC) is proud to present its Holiday 2025 concert, Make the Yuletide Gay, a heartwarming and glittering celebration of the season. From timeless carols to cheeky Broadway showstoppers, this concert brings the community together in a spirit of joy, love, and belonging.
“Music is how we connect, especially at the holidays,” says Artistic Director Bruce Southard, D.M.A. “This program is filled with humor, heart, and moments of pure joy; it’s about creating a space where everyone can celebrate the season exactly as they are.”
Audiences will delight in a wide-ranging lineup, from the playful camp of “Keep It Gay” and “Santa, Bring Me a Man This Christmas” to the heartfelt beauty of Biebl’s “Ave Maria” and Daniel Hughes’s “A Winter’s Breath”. Contemporary favorites like “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” and Oakland artist Lisa B’s “Holiday in Oakland” ensure that the evening feels as fresh as it is festive.
In the Spirit of Giving
In the spirit of giving, OaklandGMC joins Marine Corps Toys for Tots, Alameda County, to bring holiday joy to local families. Audience members are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped books and toys for ages 12–18 to the performance. After last year’s incredible response, the Chorus is thrilled to continue this partnership, helping ensure that every child experiences a holiday filled with hope and joy.
