About

Ice Cube, born O'Shea Jackson Sr. on June 15, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, is a multifaceted artist renowned for his contributions to music, film, and entrepreneurship. He gained prominence in the late 1980s as a member of the influential rap group N.W.A., co-writing tracks for their groundbreaking album Straight Outta Compton (1988). After departing from N.W.A. in 1989 due to financial disputes, Ice Cube launched a successful solo career with albums like AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted (1990) and Death Certificate (1991), which addressed social and political issues.

Transitioning into acting, Ice Cube made his film debut in Boyz n the Hood (1991) and later co-wrote and starred in the comedy Friday (1995), leading to a successful film franchise. He continued to build his filmography with roles in movies such as Barbershop and Are We There Yet?, showcasing his versatility as an actor and producer.

Beyond entertainment, Ice Cube co-founded the BIG3 basketball league in 2017, providing a platform for former NBA players. In 2020, he introduced the Contract with Black America (CWBA), advocating for economic inclusion and social justice reforms. His 2024 album Man Down marked his return to the music charts, debuting at No. 8 on Billboard's Top Rap Albums chart.

Ice Cube's enduring impact on hip-hop culture, film, and social advocacy underscores his status as a significant figure in American entertainment and activism.
