Hella Juneteenth is an annual cultural celebration rooted in Oakland, centering Black culture through curated music, food, art, and community programming. Founded in 2020 as a viral advocacy campaign, it has grown into one of the Bay Area’s largest Juneteenth gatherings, drawing more than 4,000 attendees in 2025. Hella Juneteenth is produced by Hella Creative, a collective supporting Black cultural production and creative infrastructure.

A Juneteenth Week Across Oakland

What began as a single day has grown into a full week of cultural programming across Oakland, culminating in the festival at Cloud Park.

The lead-up to the festival will feature the return of two cornerstone events:

Futureproof Run: a community 5K honoring liberation through movement.
Kickoff Dinner: an intimate gathering celebrating Black culinary excellence and storytelling.

Additional civic activations, cultural collaborations, and partner events across Oakland will be announced in the coming weeks.

The partnership with Oakland School for the Arts reflects a shared commitment to youth access, artistic development, and Oakland’s cultural presence.
