Come learn how to make compost!

Building organic matter in our soils is the best way to sustainably grow our own food – and amending our soils with compost is one of the best ways to do that! This workshop will mostly be hands-on, but will also include an engaging lecture learning. We will be modeling a hot composting system that is best in large backyards, and we will also discuss and show examples of what’s possible in smaller spaces. Depending on the interest of the group, we can also discuss worm composting systems.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Vivian Santana Pacheco is passionate about food and environmental justice. She loves nerding out with folks about soil, urban agriculture and relearning our ancestral food ways. She is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz’s Center for Agroecology and
