Influential power popsters, The Rubinoos make a rare Bay Area appearance performing as co-headliners with the legendary SF rock band The Flamin’ Groovies and The Chuckleberries.

Founded in Berkeley in 1970 by junior high buddies Tommy Dunbar and Jon Rubin, The Rubinoos are one of the seminal power pop artists of the 1970s. The band’s career highlights include a top 40 hit of Tommy James’ “I Think We’re Alone Now” which they performed on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Fans will also recognize the power pop classic “ I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend,” which was named record of the year by Britain’s Music Week Magazine. In '84 The Rubes recorded one of their most popular songs, the title cut of the film Revenge of the Nerds.
