Yes, we love California Wine Country. We really do. But, oh, the traffic. The tour buses, the elbow-to-elbow tasting rooms. The $450 per night hotel rooms. Lucky for us, enterprising, talented winemakers have done something completely brilliant. They bring grapes--those outstanding, juicy, berry-ish reds as well as bright whites from famous wine lands--to the shores of Oakland. They blend, barrel and bottle them here. They get to name them -- The Day Job, Les Enfants Terribles and The Imposter -- to reflect their Oakland roots. We get to drink them. Thank you, Oakland winemakers.

Côte West brings the best of these worlds...

They are wines with beautiful aromatics but also profound earthiness and focus – exactly the same qualities I had been trying to achieve with food. Today, we grow 10-acres of vineyard planted to 13 different grapes at 1,500' elevation with a focus on...

That trip culminated at Domaine Binner in Alsace, where they worked to create the 2012 vintage and began to dream of a winery of their own. Back in California, Nick had the opportunity to work at Navarro Vineyards to continue to refine his skill and love of winemaking. In 2014, Tintype Winery was...
