Oakland From Home
Kenneth Brown, Visitor Services Coordinator

Q. If this was your last day on Earth, where in Oakland would you dine?
A. I love to cook. I would have my family and friends over to my home and prepare a wonderful meal.
Q. Where is the first place you take your friends and family from out of town in Oakland?
A. There are so many places to choose from. The view from Kincaid’s in Jack London Square offers magnificent sunsets, and the food and service is consistently good.
Q. What’s your favorite secret spot in Oakland?
A. Lake Merritt. I’ll grab a cup of Joe and the newspaper or book, find a bench to sit on…I’m there!
Q. Where would someone most likely find you on the weekend?
A. On the golf course with friends, nothing better.
Q. Describe your Oakland in 3 words?
A. Powerful, opportunity, love.
Q. Where is one of your favorite travel destinations in the world?
A. In Cabo San Lucas, there’s this famous fiesta cruise that teaches you how to salsa while drinking margaritas. Of course there is food but mostly fun, fun, fun!
Q. What is your go-to happy hour drink?
A. Absolute Vodka on the rocks with a lemon twist, or a nice Merlot.
Q. What do you love about your job?
A. The camaraderie, connecting with visitors, learning all about what Oakland offers.
Q. Describe who you are in 140 characters or less.
A. Outgoing, dependable, funny, and usually the first one on the dance floor. I like to play all types of board games, Bones and Chess are my favorites.
Q. Best place to shop in Oakland?
A. Men’s Warehouse in downtown Oakland offers a nice variety that fits my needs.
